- In the Safari app on your Mac, do any of the following. Mute audio in the tab you’re viewing: Click the Audio button in the Smart Search field. Mute audio in other tabs: If you’re viewing several websites that are playing audio, Option-click the Audio button in the Smart Search field to let audio play in the tab you’re currently viewing and mute the audio in other tabs.
- The solution involves using a program called Audio Hijack. As the name suggests its designed to hijack audio from other applications. Although this is a paid app there trial version (which is free to use indefinitely) does exactly what we want. The first step in hijacking an application and to mute it is to press the hijack button.
- This app seems to have changed purposes and all linked articles about using it to mute applications on Mac are 4-5 years out of date. I don't think it is still a viable option (but if it is I'd be happy to hear about it).

I dont like any phone to have any sound when we are in a public space.. Mac app block internet. So how do one turn it off? The mute button only turns of the ringing tune, not any other Sound. And game/youtube/facebook/webpages All think that playing Sound at any time is okay.. Pixel fix app mac. I know that I can turn the Sound level down to 0, but that is very irritating, then I need to click 20 times each time i want to mute/unmute and it's not done instantly. I whould never buy a tv where I was forced to do that. Is there some smart way to actually mute the iphone that I missed?

No, there is no mute button, plug your headphones to your phone if you don't want audio to play from apps to be heard in public.
